If you’re anything like me, you a) love food, and b) especially love breakfast foods. Granola is definitely one of my all-time favorite breakfast treats, but up until last year I never ventured into making it myself. I resounded myself to the store-bought varieties, and while tasty – they were a bit expensive and didn’t always contain the kinds of ingredients I wanted to be eating. When I stumbled across a pin that described how you could make crockpot granola, my world was officially changed for the better.
I experimented with a bunch of recipes over the last year and this is the go-to one I developed. I love it because it’s just _ ingredients which makes it simple to throw together quickly, and a bit better for your body than many of the store-bought kinds.
Now don’t get me wrong – oats covered in oil and honey aren’t exactly a “health food.” But I DO love being able to control the number and types of ingredients that I use to create this delish dish. Making it yourself allows you to play around with the amount of sugar you add to find a balance that works for you.

It’s perfect if you’ve got a family of granola lovers or if you just want to stock yourself up for the week. You can pop it in some mason jars, a Tupperware container, or even just a big ziplock bag and it keeps pretty well in the pantry. {The more airtight your container, the better – but I’ve kept this in a gallon size bag for two or so weeks and it’s kept just fine.}
You can enjoy this crockpot granola straight up with a little bit of regular milk or almond milk, or use it to add a bit of crunch to a yogurt parfait. My favorite parfait recipe is super simple: defrost frozen berries in the microwave so they get a little juicy, mix ‘em up with plain greek yogurt, and top with this tasty granola.
Crockpot Granola
Ingredients
- 5 cups rolled oats
- 2/3 cup oil of choice (I've used both canola and coconut oil for this)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (optional - use if you prefer a sweeter granola)
- 3/4 cup roughly chopped walnuts
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup dried cranberries
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients except dried cranberries in the crockpot. Leave the lid slightly ajar to allow moisture to escape so granola gets crisp.
- Cook on high for 2 to 2.5 hours, stirring every 15-30 minutes.
- When granola is done cooking, stir in cranberries and then transfer to airtight jars or containers. Let sit - it will crisp up a bit while cooling! Enjoy. ?
