5 Healthier Cherry Desserts That Are Perfect for Summer

August 2, 2024 by Chrissy Carroll 10 Comments

Love those fresh cherries in late spring and early summer? Then you’ll want to dig into these healthy cherry dessert recipes! Each recipe features fresh sweet cherries and tastes amazing. The recipes offer some type of nutrition boost compared to other common cherry dessert recipes, like less added sugar or more fiber.

Note: This post was originally published in 2015 and has been updated in 2024.

    1. Chocolate Cherry Energy Bites from Snacking in Sneakers

You only need five simple ingredients to make these energy bites – oats, walnuts, dates, cherries, and dark chocolate chips. These are great for active women that want an easy-to-grab sweet treat. Make a batch on Sundays and grab ’em from the fridge all week.

    2. Chocolate Cherry Brownies from Snacking in Sneakers

These brownies are made with whole wheat flour to offer a little extra fiber and minerals. They also have less sugar than standard recipes, have black beans mixed in to add extra fiber, and – of course – feature delicious sweet cherries.

    3. Chocolate Cherry Chia Pudding from Bucket List Tummy

Whether you want to eat it for dessert, a snack, or even breakfast, this chocolate cherry chia pudding is a delectable choice. It packs in 7 grams of digestive-friendly fiber.

    4. Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream from Snacking in Sneakers

With a base that blends cream, milk, and Greek yogurt, you end up with an insanely good ice cream that has more protein than the average scoop! And you only need 5 ingredients total to make this (the three mentioned above, plus cherries and dates).

    5. Chocolate Cherry Smoothie from Malina Malkani

Bananas, cherries, kale, and cocoa powder form the base for this tasty smoothie that plays on the classic chocolate cherry flavor combo.

Mmm! All of these recipes look so yummy. Now I understand why you mentioned good nutritional practices at the beginning 😉

I love to just eat cherries by themselves. Usually the sweet ones .

I love sweet cherries too just by themselves. When I was out in California a few years ago it was so fun to be able to grab them at any road side stand.
