Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Ice Pops

It’s summertime! What better way to celebrate than whipping up a batch of homemade protein ice pops? This simple summer dessert is made with just five ingredients and is the perfect chocolatey treat for adults and kiddos alike. Each ice pop packs in 9 grams of high-quality protein. Great for cooling down after a summer run!

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by NOW®.  As always, all opinions are my own.

    Ingredients & Instructions

Here’s a photo of all the ingredients you’ll need, along with ingredient notes:

Banana, peanut butter, chocolate milk, salt, and chocolate protein powder.
    • Peanut Butter: Natural peanut butter works best here; the drippier texture is perfect for blending.
    • Ultrafiltered chocolate milk: This milk undergoes a filtering process where components are separated by size. This allows them to create a product that retains more protein and calcium, with reduced lactose and water content. The resulting chocolate milk has more protein and less sugar than conventional options. Of course, if all you have on hand is regular chocolate milk, that’s fine to use too!
    • Banana: You know those bananas with brown spots that have been sitting on your counter for a week? Those are perfect for these! Because you’ll be freezing them into ice pops after, you can just use the banana at room temperature (no need to freeze before making the mixture).
    • Salt: This just helps enhance all the other flavors.
    • Protein Powder: I recommend NOW® Creamy Chocolate Whey Protein Powder. This protein powder is specifically designed for optimal amino acid absorption. Whey protein is considered to have the highest biological value (BV) of protein sources as well. Plus, this chocolate flavor tastes so good! As a bonus, you can get 20% off your order at NOW (for this chocolate protein powder and anything else you want to try!) using code CHRISSY.

Once you’ve got all your ingredients, blend them together in a blender cup until smooth and creamy.

All the ingredients blended together in a blender cup.

Pour that into six ice pop molds and freeze for 4-6 hours. Enjoy! For best quality, use within 1-2 months of freezing.

    Modifications for Plant-Based Option

This recipe can easily be modified for a plant-based option. The banana, peanut butter, and salt stays the same. Instead of using ultrafiltered chocolate milk, substitute with an equivalent amount of chocolate soy milk or chocolate oat milk. And instead of using whey protein powder, use NOW® Sports Organic Creamy Chocolate Plant Protein. Note that the nutrition facts will be slightly different using these substitutions (they’ll have a little less protein).
