12 Peanut Butter Protein Snacks (Dietitian-Approved!)

Modified: Oct 24, 2026 by Chrissy Carroll · Leave a Comment

If there’s one food that I eat pretty much every day – whether it’s part of breakfast or satisfying my nighttime sweet tooth – it’s peanut butter. I’m a little obsessed. (Okay, a lot obsessed.)

Add us as a trusted Google source

As a registered dietitian and running coach, I wanted to share some of my personal favorite peanut butter snacks that also pack in a little protein. Bars, bites, cookies, fudge, frozen treats… there’s something here for everyone. Think of post-run snacks, filling options for that afternoon slump, or your “I need chocolate and peanut butter right now” moments. Enjoy!

12 Peanut Butter Protein Snacks and Desserts

Here are some of my favs!

    1. 4 Ingredient Peanut Butter Protein Bars (10 g protein)

This is probably one of the top five recipes on my website that I make regularly at home. Just four ingredients and no baking. These are my go-to when I need a quick batch of snacks for the week, and my kiddo loves them too.

A stack of three peanut butter protein bars next to a container of protein powder, honey, and peanut butter.

    2. Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Granola (11 g protein)

Crunchy chocolate peanut butter clusters that work as a snack by the handful, a yogurt topper, or cereal with milk.

    3. Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Whoopie Pies (11.5 g protein)

Soft chocolate cakes sandwiched with a peanut butter filling. A total treat that happens to bring double-digit protein!!

    4. Homemade Pumpkin Protein Bars (17 g protein)

A protein heavyweight in this group! These are a pumpkin twist on the first recipe in this list. Great for fall meal prep and grab-and-go snacking. You can also roll into balls instead of bars.

    5. Dark Chocolate Kodiak Protein Muffins (11.5 g protein)

Rich, chocolatey muffins made with Kodiak mix for an easy protein boost. Great for an afternoon snack or a post-run bite.

    6. Banana Peanut Butter Smoothie (39 g protein)

Just finish up a really tough or long workout? This is the snack you need. It’s a big one with 39 grams of high-quality protein. Made with just six ingredients so it’s easy to throw together. (Not after a long, tough workout? Split it with a friend!).

A glass jar of the post workout smoothie with a paper straw in it.

    7. Healthy Fudgy Butternut Squash Brownies (7 g protein)

Fudgy, chocolatey, and sneakily made with butternut squash (and peanut butter of course!). As a heads up, these are definitely have a rich dark cocoa flavor – if you’re more into milk chocolate kinda stuff, you may not like these.

    8. PB&J Frozen Yogurt in a Bag (24 g protein)

Just three ingredients! A nostalgic PB&J flavor with a big protein punch from the yogurt. This is a great one to make with kids since you do it “in a bag style” – you put the ingredients in a bag or jar, then place that in another bag with ice and salt. Shake it up until it’s frozen yogurt texture.

    9. Peanut Butter Sweetpotato Greek Yogurt Bark (10 g protein)

Creamy Greek yogurt and sweetpotato swirled with peanut butter, frozen and snapped into pieces. Keep a stash in the freezer! This is a great one to snack on in the summer months.

    10. Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Ice Pops (9 g protein)

A fudgsicle-style treat with a chocolate peanut butter twist. So refreshing after a hot workout. And very easy to make!

    11. Healthy Peanut Butter Eggs (Like Reese’s!) (7 g protein)

All the flavor of the classic peanut butter eggs with more protein. Not just for Easter, eat ’em anytime. You can mold into whatever shapes you want, like making pumpkins for Halloween.

    12. Peanut Butter Protein Fudge (6 g protein)

Rich, melt-in-your-mouth fudge you can keep in the fridge for a small but satisfying sweet bite.

Tips for Making Peanut Butter Snacks

    • Mix with high-protein options like Greek yogurt or cottage cheese. Both blend easily into dips, frozen treats, and baked goods.
    • Pair with carbs after workouts. Fruit, oats, or other carb-based options alongside your PB snack helps refuel energy stores.
    • Prep ahead. Bars, bites, and fudge keep well in the fridge or freezer, so you’ve got a snack ready when hunger hits.

    Final Thoughts

I hope this roundup gives you plenty of ways to get your peanut butter fix and some extra protein in. If you make any of these, I’d love to hear which one is your favorite.
