10 Delicious Healthy Banana Snack Recipes

March 7, 2022 by Chrissy Carroll Leave a Comment

Are you a fellow banana fan? This inexpensive fruit is perfect for active women to snack on as-is, but also makes a great start for a number of unique healthy banana snack recipes. You’ll find ten of my favorite treats here today, all of which are perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth while supporting your fitness goals.

    1. Banana Protein Muffins

A bowl lined with a yellow napkin filled with a bunch of banana protein muffins.

One of the most popular recipes on our site! These chocolate chip banana muffins have more protein and less sugar than your average bakery muffin. Each muffin packs in 6 grams of high-quality protein, but still tastes amazing (seriously, my kiddo loves these!). Use ’em as an afternoon snack or part of your breakfast.

Get the recipe: Banana protein muffins.

    2. Matcha banana bread

A loaf of matcha banana bread with two slices cut from the left side.

This twist on the classic quick bread is perfect for when you start to feel your energy dip mid-morning. The matcha powder provides bioactive compounds that promote health, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties (according to research). Matcha also provides a little caffeine boost in each slice, helping with that mid-morning lull.

    3. Healthy banana mug cake

A spoon digging into a healthy banana mug cake.

This single-serve cake is perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth in a portion-controlled way. The recipe calls for just half a banana and a handful of other nutritious ingredients, so it’s easy to create in a few minutes. Plus, it packs in 8 grams of protein!

    4. Peanut butter banana granola

A baking sheet with just baked banana granola.

With no added sugar and no oil, this granola is a great healthy banana snack option! It combines workout-fueling carbs with satiating healthy fats for a satisfying meal. Try prepping a batch ahead for busy days. Simply mix everything together, bake, and then store in an airtight container for up to 1-2 weeks. The granola is perfect on its own as a bowl of cereal, or as a topping for yogurt or smoothies.

Get the recipe: Peanut butter banana granola.

    5. Healthy banana peanut butter cookies

A stack of peanut butter banana cookies next to a banana and a baking sheet.

Soft, chewy, and delicious, these cookies are a great snack or dessert. They’re made with just five ingredients and only take a few minutes to prep before popping them in the oven. Bonus – they’re also vegan and gluten-free for any of you with dietary restrictions.

Get the recipe: Banana peanut butter cookies.

    6. Chocolate covered frozen banana bites

Frozen Banana Bites on a plate.

These little guys are perfect when you need something sweet but don’t want anything too heavy. The chocolate coating provides antioxidants and mood-boosting flavanols, the bananas provide potassium, and the peanut butter provides satisfying healthy fats. (These are my FAV to snack on throughout the summer – they taste so good right out of the freezer).

Get the recipe: Frozen banana bites.

    7. Pistachio banana bread

A loaf of pistachio banana bread next to some shelled pistachios.

With pistachio butter and shelled pistachios in this quick bread, you’re in for a double dose of nutty deliciousness. Each slice packs in 4 grams of filling fiber and 8 grams of protein to support muscle health. This bread is perfect to have on hand for quick snacks or breakfasts.

Get the recipe: Pistachio banana bread.

    8. Strawberry banana nice cream

A bowl of strawberry banana soft serve nice cream.

Who doesn’t love a good bowl of ice cream? While I certainly love the classic, it’s also fun to try new frozen desserts. In this case, instead of using a traditional dairy base, you’ll use frozen bananas for that classic creamy consistency. While we’ve used strawberry in this version, you can also get creative with experimenting with your own favorite combos. (Another favorite of mine is frozen bananas, cocoa powder, and peanut butter powder).

    9. Cacao banana smoothie

This 5-ingredient smoothie is a great post-workout snack – it’s packed with carbohydrates to re-stock energy in the muscles, protein to support muscle repair and recovery, and antioxidants to support overall health. The cacao powder and almond butter in this recipe also contribute a good amount of magnesium, which plays a role in energy production and many other processes in the body (a key nutrient for active women).

    10. Peanut butter banana energy bites

A bowl full of peanut butter banana energy bites next to a banana and a small bowl of oats.

These little guys are perfect when you’re on the go and need something quick. Prep ’em ahead so you can grab ’em all week. They’re made with just five ingredients, most of which you’ll likely have on hand already. Plus, they contain a blend of carbohydrates, healthy fats, and protein to help sustain your energy levels.
